Climb aboard a 19th-century narrow-gauge steam train for a nostalgic ride through Oregon’s wintry forests. The Sumpter Valley Christmas Train travels 12 miles round-trip between McEwen and Sumpter, where Santa awaits with treats and smiles. Guests can enjoy complimentary cocoa, tea, and coffee before exploring the Sumpter Christmas Bazaar and tree lighting. Whether you ride the twilight train or the daytime excursion, the vintage locomotive, glowing lights, and festive atmosphere make this one of Baker County’s most beloved holiday traditions.
Itinerary
- 12:45 PM – Arrive and check in at McEwen Depot
1:00 PM – Board historic steam train and depart through snowy valley
1:45 PM – Arrive at Sumpter Station; visit Santa and enjoy free cocoa
2:15 PM – Explore the Sumpter Christmas Bazaar or relax by the fire
3:30 PM – Return to McEwen Depot for farewells and photos
