Every winter, the Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad re-creates holiday nostalgia with its celebrated North Pole Express First Class experience. Guests are welcomed to vintage 1940s- and ’50s-era dining cars, lavishly trimmed in garlands and lights. As snowflakes glimmer outside, the soft hum of the train sets the rhythm for an evening of comfort and wonder. Friendly hosts serve milk and Mrs. Claus’s famous cookies while storytelling and carols fill the cabin. Children beam as Santa climbs aboard at the North Pole to greet every passenger and hand out gifts. Adults sip cocoa, relax in climate-controlled comfort, and relive the enchantment of classic rail travel. Before or after the trip, families can explore the station’s Event Barn—complete with letters-to-Santa tables, live-animal nativity, and s’mores by the fire. The 75-minute journey offers a perfect blend of elegance and cheer: soft lighting, holiday music, and heartfelt moments that make lasting memories.
